CDR layout

No new models at the moment as I've been working on my layout covering the CDR from Stranorlar to Donegal. Here are some screenshots to give you an idea of how it's going. Still lots to do!

Stranorlar station from the west.

The route up to the summit past Lough Mourne.

Looking south-westwards through the Barnesmore Gap.

A view north-west back through the Gap.

Lough Eske station.

Approaching Donegal station.

In preparation: San Marino narrow-gauge railway (950mm) which ran between the tiny independent state and the city of Rimini, Emilia-Romagna in north-east Italy. This little line was opened in 1932 and destroyed in 1943 during WWII. A short history in English is available here, and a longer history in Italian here. The electrified catenary line was built as a main line railway for much of its length but in the latter part, when it climbed up to San Marino itself through several tunnels and severe curves, it looked more like a tramway. Guided by Italian Trainzer Filippo, I will be modelling the tramcars and freight vehicles. The distinctive tunnel which carried the line into its upper terminus is already being beta-tested and I have also already prepared a small range of basic 950mm gauge track. We will recommend what catenary to download from the DLS in due course. I will also be producing 3ft gauge versions of all the vehicles as they are otherwise too wide. Similarly, changing the track in the tunnel will onl need a minor edit in the config.

Download problem: An odd glitch has developed on downloading cdps from one of the three servers hosting this site. All the space and bandwidth I use has been kindly donated by generous Trainzers. If you left-click on some links and get a browser page full of mixed up code then use the back button to return you to the page listing the models then right-click on the link and choose 'save link as', then click on save in the little pop-up as usual.

All new ING4Trainz models and revised versions are issued under kuid 169585 only.

This site is dedicated to the memory of

Ricky Sykes
1942 - 2008

A great modeller, railway enthusiast, blues singer and composer, and friend.

Two videos of Ricky's model of Ballyshannon CDR in mpeg format can be downloaded here and here. These are the videos Ricky posted on YouTube. They are large downloads: 27MB and 31MB..

Here is the YouTube link for one of them.

Bob the beta tester checks over my new models in TC3, I check them in TRS04, and some get checked by Filippo in TRS2010. All the models on this site are for Trainz 2004 but they usually work OK in Trainz 2006. There may be a problem if you are running Trainz Classics as some models utilise some of the Trainz 2004 built-in content, such as enginesound files, which may not have shipped with Trainz Classics. Where possible, if the relevant files are 3rd-party creations, I will try to provide access to them either by hosting the files as cdps on this site on the guest page, or by providing a direct link to the author's own site. This service cannot be offered if the files are part of the built-in content authored by Auran and the best solution would be for you to consider purchasing a copy of Trainz 2004, readily available at very reasonable prices on Ebay.

If you have any queries or comments, please email me. Get notification whenever new models are released. Just send an email to be added to the list. Do you have a special request, a prototype that you'd like to see modelled? I'm happy to add it to the wish list. However, just suggesting a loco, carrriage or some other prototype doesn't get things very far - I would need scale drawings plus photos. I can't guarantee if/when it will be modelled but at least it will be 'on the list'! Just send an email. All of these models are released as freeware for everyone to enjoy. They remain the property of their creators. The Gmax files are not available and ING4Trainz does not permit reskinning of models. For further details see the policy page.
